EXPRESSING GRATITUDE THROUGH ART

Final Art Exhibition: Students from each buddy class will be invited to create a final piece of work to submit to an art exhibition on the Theme: Gratitude.  Any medium may be used to allow for creativity, individualism and to portray the message they wish to share with their audience. This could mean for example; painted canvas work, charcoal drawings, prints, photography or handmade craft works.

The dates for the 2015 Exhibition are:
  1. Sunday 28th June: Open 10.00am – 5.00pm for parents, families and general public
  2. Monday 29th June: Open 9.00am – 3.00pm for participating schools in S.A. to attend as a class group (booked time slot required)
Venue: Norwood Town Hall, Don Pyatt Hall

Student artworks will be offered for sale during this exhibition time, with proceeds contributing to the Help-A-School Foundation’s aims and future projects in schools in Vellore, India.

More details about the exhibition and artwork requirements will be sent out to schools later this term. It is anticipated that some restrictions on size of art may be required due to the larger number of classes involved.

Artist partnerships: This is an exciting new evolvement of the Schools Connect Project during the past month. Due to the amazing generosity of 16 local South Australian Artists – 18 paintings (each with a theme on gratitude) have been donated to the Help-A-School Foundation for the exhibition in June. This is truly incredible! These artworks will be used to raise funds through a silent auction process.

These local artists bring diverse skills, experiences and life stories about their connection with art and their perspective on gratitude. Many of these artists, have indicated their willingness to share their skills, stories and experiences with students through the project, eg via emails, Skype or even a visit to the school.

How amazing is this!
